Welcome back to the New Year!!
Many of you are making adjustments to your daily schedule, interventions, rotations, etc. I would like for everyone to please turn in a hard copy of your daily schedule to Lori by Friday 1/10. It should reflect times you are out to the classroom (PE, band, Library, Book Buddies), interventions, ELD, and anytime you are rotating students. This is helpful for Roe and I when we are walking classrooms but also for office staff when they are trying to get a hold of you. STEP and RSP please also give Lori a copy of the current break/lunch schedule you have for your self and classified. (We are aware that it is not always possible to take lunch and breaks at designated times, but we would like a copy of the ideal schedule)

Attendance-
We are always striving to increase our attendance, as we get back to work in the New Year, I wanted to share an awareness video with you all. If you would like to participate in the Science Experiment in your classroom we will provide the supplies. It is important that we all practice good hygiene, washing our hands throughout the day and keeping Chromebooks and work space sanitized. I will work with Roe to get you all some supplies to help keep germs away and keep kids healthy and in school. This is also a great time to roll out a new or recommit to an old attendance incentive program in  your classroom. If you want support with this in the form of ideas or financial support reach out to Roe and I and we can assist.

Instructional Rounds/SLT/Staff Meetings

At the last Instructional Rounds meeting, the team made some commitments and we developed a long term plan to meet the needs of school.
Commitments:
Continue the writing process as determined by the district.
Finish the writing, or work to develop and enrich a portion of the writing
Provide Student models/exemplars
Provide students with Rubrics and have them self/peer edit
Give them opportunities to improve their work
Provide higher level DOK prompts
Ask students to write about topics that have a social/civic impact

As a staff we will be working on Close Reading Strategies, Note Taking Skills and developing our ability to create higher order thinking questions during upcoming staff meetings. We will be working with Sarah Zuetel (AVID staff developer for RUSD). Although we are not an AVID site, we can steal all the AVID strategies.

SLT- SLT will January 10th. If you are teaching writing and want to attend with you grade level team leader just let Lori know so we can make sure to get all the subs we need. The topics will be reading and writing.

Construction Update:
Kindergarten Playground will be closed for a few weeks. There is a plan for am, please use the upper playground as needed.
