TIGER ASSEMBLIES

Teachers, Generic invitations and the Perfect Attendance list will be placed in your box. Please make copies of the invitations and send home for students who receive Honor Roll, Perfect Attendance and Tiger Awards. The vote has come in and we will be giving 3 awards per trimester for a total of 9 per year. Please look for certificates in your box (three of them) and fill them out accordingly. 1 for Academic Achievement/Effort, 1 for a Social Skill and 1 for a Tiger Trait. These need to be turned into Lori at least 2 days before the assembly.

Lunch with the Principal Protocol:
When a student buys lunch with the principal, Shelley asks the students where they want to eat, Shelley then gives me the form and I identify the date for the lunch. After that, it goes in your box and the students can fill out their food choice selections. It then comes back to me so I can go buy the lunches on the day of our lunch.

CLARIFICATION FROM STAFF MEETING:

Sanci will continue to serve students in Read 180 and System 44. The change is with intensive students in grades K-2. She will still take some students, but it should not be the most intensive in the event that she has to cancel for any specific reason.

Tiffany and Sanci will progress monitor the students that are with them.

Over the next few weeks we will be walking around duirng ELD and Intervention time. Please make sure you are doing both. If you need support with ELD or Interventions, reach out. Remember Talli is very knowledgeable about DIBELS and interventions, reach out if you are unsure about how to use data to drive your instruction. Sanci can assist in providing you with K-2 Institute support. Reach out to staff developers Janet, Kelly, Judy, colleen, or Mary. It is urgent that we are progress monitoring our students using the right tools.

Intensive students every 2 weeks
Strategic students every 4 weeks
All students every 6 weeks

If interventions are not working, we are not doing the right work. If interventions have worked, change what you are doing and target the next need.

As we dig deeper into data and meeting the needs of students everyday, I want to remind you that you have the freedom to make professional decisions about your classroom. How and what you teach should be intentional and specific to the needs of your students. Whole group/small group/1:1 - you need to make these instructional decisions and adjust as needed based on data. You need to be free to try new things, make mistakes and adjust for the needs of kids. As long as you can justify why you are doing what you are doing,  we are good with it.

Make sure as you feel the pressure that you reflect. We can not take or adjust the amount of time we have, but we can adjust what we do with that time....if you are doing things because you always have and there is no data to support the work, free yourself and stop. Focus on the essentials and let go of all of the rest. You are free to focus.

Instructional Rounds Communication:

Thank you team for your hard work and focus on evidence based writing. We will be having our follow up meeting here at Harrison on 12/3. Please work with Lori to get your subs for this day. We will be looking at shifts in practice and outcomes in student work. Our goal is to take:

The standards
The framework
Sources (Media)

Intentionally teach the Pre-writing process to demonstrate evidence gathering.  Allow students to construct a writing piece and we will evaluate their use of evidence in writing.

Additional consideration:
Close Reading
RACE
Listening/Speaking
Multiple Media
Modality of instruction of evidence based activities
Intentionally supporting students with intentional language based sentence frames/stems
Intentional decisions about collaboration/independent/whole class, etc.

More opportunities for quick/free writes
