Great Things From the Week!
Equity Conference- Thank you to the team who held Harrison together for two days and thank you to the team that went to the Conference.
Thank you Amy, Amber, and Teresa for holding down the fort while Lori got to go off and see the world.
Thank you to the IEP team for getting assistance to kids who need it, as quickly as possible.
Thank you to the teachers to stay positive even when faced with the most challenging students. parents, and/or situations.
Thank you Micheal for taking in all kids and making sure they have what they need to access the classroom.
Thank you Sanci for helping out with Lunch with a Loved One. I appreciate you always going above and beyond. (Also for never saying no)
Thank you Roe for always helping to "divide and conquer"- I could not do it without you.
Thank you all for your patience during picture day, it went much smoother with the new company.
Thank you to the team who supported Saturday School, we had less than 20 students out of 150 eligible, so please help us recruit students. The money comes back to us.
Thank you for the teachers in grades 4-6 who helped make combos work for students. You are rock stars for kids.
Tiger Points/Tiger Store Communication:
Tiger store is moving along. We will continue to add items to the store throughout the year. The suggestions the students are leaving are awesome!!

As we move closer to a student centered classroom, remember it is important for students to problem solve and Productive Struggle is good. The person in the classroom learning is the person doing the work.....
Think about a coach, where do they stand during a game?
The students, the kids are the ones in the game, they need to do the work, we trust that they can take our guidance and go out and dominate. We give them the plays, we require them to practice, we shout and scream at them encouraging words to keep them motivated until they believe they can do it. We want them all to give 100% so they can win!!! We believe they are talented and are capable of victory.
The success of a coach is as good as the players they coach. WE need to cheer from the sidelines and stop carrying the ball.
As a first step, try to move closer to a 50% teacher talk/ 50% student talk model. (We need to increase intentional student talk/collaboration time)
As a staff we will commit to Intentional Collaborative Conversations.
Give kids the tools and let them learn!!!
Math Manipulatives: Click Here
We will be walking around looking for math manipulative. Please invite us as you have a cool lesson!
MTSS- As you are finishing your BOY assessments, please start thinking about how you are going to group students based on need and data. If you have a large range of need work with your team and Sanci to help reach every student, every day.
Sanci is able to push in and support students as you are making groups- it may be beneficial to do rotations (centers) in your classroom. All students need to have access to the core so how are you going to ensure you are not taking struggling learners out of their core instruction.
All students should have access to the teacher through out the rotations even if it is just to check in. Make sure all rotations/centers have an accountability piece (how do you know what they completed? Is there a response sheet, online report, etc)
Rotation/center ideas for independent activities while you work in a small group(sample, not exhaustive list):
Dreambox
Lexia
Reading Plus
Zearn
AR
Read Works (at level)

September 20th:
K-2 will have a full day pull out to work with ELA and Math Staff developers for our first CST.
All teams will need DIBELS data AND booklets.
Any student in red (intensive) please complete the Phonics Survey Diagnostic Assessment (attachment was sent in email) This is an area that Sanci can support your in as well.
I’m looking forward to working with you on 9/20. Clarissa has asked me what data we would like to look at with regard to math. I ask that you please bring your latest mid- or end-of-module assessments from Eureka (depending on where you are on 9/20). Also, for 1st and 2nd, I’d like you to bring a recent Exit Ticket. I know that is a lot of student work to bring, but we learn most in math by diving in to student work to really understand where the students are so that we may best support them and move them forward. If you have any questions before 9/20, please don’t hesitate to reach out. I’ll see you all on the 20th. ☺
Please see schedule below:
We will be using the following schedule:
7:25-9:15- Kindergarten

We need to serve every student, by name and by need.
BOY data – DIBELS, math, reading, writing data (bring what you have, you do not need to make an assessment for this purpose)

As we think about the work of MTSS and addressing the whole child, we need to remember we need student voice. In order to meet their academic needs we have to meet their social and emotional needs. Take time to get to know your students, genuinely, share your stories and be vulnerable, and expect the same from them. Build relationships with each other and your students. IT IS THE WORK.
