Most students currently have about 350-450 points. Some classes are far below that, we are giving out an average of 200 points a week still. Please try to aim for this. If you are documenting points and putting them in later please remember to do that. It is not required that you add points for attendance everyday, you can add all at once or daily, your choice.
The average student is receiving about 200 points a week, that is about 40 points a day on average.
Points Distribution:
Present - 10 points
Tardy - 5 points
Safe, Respectful, Responsible, Ready to Learn - 5,10,15 or 20 points per action
EXAMPLES OF POINTS:
5 points: Student is given a direction to line up, sit down, go to a location, get something out and they do what they are asked.
10 points: A student is already doing something that was not asked of them, student stands out as doing what they need to do while peers are having to be reminded or given expectations.
15 points: A student is going above and beyond, doing something unexpected that is positive, it could be they go out of their way to pick up trash that is not theirs, or help a teacher when other peers don't notice or even offer. This is for students that truly do something remarkable.
20 point: A student is going above and beyond specifically to assist a peer in a very positive way. A student who stops to help a friend who dumped their food tray, or helps them pick up their backpack that dumped out. This should be reserved for the students who demonstrate a very high level of kindness towards others, especially peers.
Supervisors are currently able to award individual students independently, however will need to let the teacher know if there are classroom points that need to be awarded. Supervisors should be awarding classroom points in increments of 5 or 10 as described above. I will create form for supervisors to allocate classroom points with a justification of why they earned those points.
For Example:
Class earned 5 points for being the first to clean up when asked.
Class earned 5 points for being the first to line up when the whistle was blown.
Class earned 10 points for being the only class to stand in a straight line quietly without having to be asked.
Class earned a total of 20 points for the day
According to the number of points we are allocating in the classroom it could be expected that your class could earn 10 to 20 points for lunch time. It would be really special if they got more than that.
TIGER POINTS STUDENT ACCESS:
Your students can access Tiger Points through the Hero system. They need their school email address, Student ID and birthday (ID and DOB are on their cards already) School email is their rusdlearns.net accounts, you can get from ARIES if you need. They will need to set their own passwords, so make sure you set the password expectation. In order for them to see their points they need to log out and back in - directions are in your box. Jessica did try a few students, so if your student says their account is already created, the password is the three numbers in their email - have them change their password if it is one of them.

* Mandated Reporter Training needs to be complete by 9/20/19 - make sure you go through your email, it came from Brit Insurance, it needs to be competed individually. (It does require you to pay attention and interact with the presentation, so plan your time accordingly). The following show that it has not been completed.

REMINDER: Our common commitments from 18/19 are still very important as we begin to layer on the support for students.
SLT - Common Commitments:
As we move closer to a student centered classroom, remember it is important for students to problem solve and Productive Struggle is good. The person in the classroom learning is the person doing the work.....
As a first step, try to move closer to a 50% teacher talk/ 50% student talk model. (We need to increase intentional student talk/collaboration time)
As a staff we will commit to Intentional Collaborative Conversations.
“Intentional” means- grouping students together for an intentional purpose: giving certain partners or groups specific types of questions, and/or giving roles/jobs to particular students for a purpose in mind. (Such as a Reader, Writer, Illustrator, Reporter, etc… without giving a lower reader the Reader position, or shy person the reporter position.)
Within the Collaborative Conversations include using the 4Ls as norms, using sentence frames, complete sentences, and RACE as appropriate.
At the SLT we are keeping these common commitments, increasing student opportunities to focus on Speaking and Listening, and we learned about several new resources:

Construction Update:
As always construction is an ever moving target, please make sure all communication goes to Jessica and I if it concerns construction. Please do not talk to construction workers. Do NOT go on construction site, even if it is accessible, call the office if there is an open gate. The only time we are ever allowed on the construction site is with a hard hat and an escort - unless it is due to a student we need to get off the site.
MTSS- As you are finishing your BOY assessments, please start thinking about how you are going to group students based on need and data. If you have a large range of need work with your team and Sanci to help reach every student, every day.
